Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming cars in 2024: Next-gen Swift, eVX electric SUV and more

2024 is poised to be a big year for Maruti Suzuki in India as the OEM is prepped with a slew of new launches lined up. The company will be bringing in the next-gen Swift to our shores after it was recently launched in Japan alongside the much-anticipated eVX electric SUV. Here, we quickly take a look at the anticipated Maruti Suzuki launches in India in the upcoming year.
Next-Gen Swift

One of India’s most popular hatchbacks, the Swift, is getting a makeover! In 2024, the next-gen Swift will hit the roads with a fresh look, improved features, and better performance. The model was recently launched in Japan, a few weeks after being showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show earlier this year.
The fourth-gen Swift will debut in India with Suzuki’s latest Z-Series engines. This means saying goodbye to the current 1.2-liter four-cylinder K-Series engine and welcoming a new and improved 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine. While we’re still waiting for details on the power it packs, this change promises better fuel efficiency and more torque at lower speeds.
Into the Future: eVX Electric SUV

Maruti Suzuki took its time to enter the EV scene in the country but the manufacturer is finally gearing up to introduce its first born-electric car in India. Christened as the ‘eVX,’ the SUV was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 as a concept. This EV is likely to offer two battery options in India, a 48 kWh unit for base models and a more powerful 60 kWh unit for higher variants.
Going by the interior images teased by the carmaker, the eVX boasts a rather futuristic cabin, including a large infotainment system, rectangular steering wheel, touch-sensitive controls for various functionalities, and more. The electric SUV is based on a locally adapted version of Toyota’s 40PL electric skateboard architecture and will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant.
Maruti Suzuki is diving into the electric vehicle (EV) world with the futuristic eVX electric SUV. Revealed earlier this year, the eVX promises a roomy cabin, cutting-edge tech, and an impressive range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge. While the exact launch date is still a secret, it’s expected to hit the streets in late 2024, marking a big step into the EV game for Maruti Suzuki.
More surprises in store
While Swift and eVX steal the show, Maruti Suzuki has more up its sleeve. The Dzire, Swift’s sedan sibling, is also anticipated to get a facelift in 2024. It is possible that the manufacturer will bring an updated Dzire following the launch of the fourth-gen Swift to give a refresh to India’s top-selling compact sedan.
