Drone-dropped arms, cash seized near LoC in Akhnoor

JAMMU: Two drone-dropped packets containing arms and cash were seized in a joint operation by the Army and the Jammu police from a village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector of Jammu division of J&K on Sunday.
The recovery comes after a day when alert Army troops foiled an infiltration bid by eliminating a terrorist in the same sector.
According to officials, on specific information, the Army and the police launched a joint operation and recovered two packets, which were opened with the help of a bomb disposal squad, leading to the recovery of the arms and cash.
“The packets that are believed to have been dropped by Pakistani drones for subversive activities, were noticed lying in an open field at Channi Dewano village in the Khour area around 7.50am,” an official said.
“On opening of the packets, the joint team recovered one 9mm Italian-made pistol, three magazines, 30 rounds, three IEDs, three IED batteries, one hand grenade and Rs 35,000,” he said.
