CHENNAI: A software engineer was chained and burnt alive in Thalambur, a southern suburb of the city, on Saturday. The deceased woman was identified as R. Nandhini, 25. Residents discovered the half-charred woman, who was tied up and had sustained deep injuries from a blade on her neck, hands, and legs on the night of December 23.
The police team from Thalambur recovered the woman’s body and sent it to the hospital.Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Preliminary inquiries revealed that Nandhini was a native of Madurai. The team tracked the suspect and found that a transsexual individual was behind the murder.
Police mentioned that Nandhini and one Pandi Maheshwari, 26, had studied together in the same high school in Madurai. Later, Maheshwari changed her name to Vetrimaran. Nandhini and Vetrimaran had been working at a software firm in Thoraipakkam for the past eight months and had become friends. Nandhini had fallen in love with the techie Vetrimaran. However, when she ended their friendship and began chatting with other people, Vetrimaran became angry, leading to her murder.
The police team apprehended Vetrimaran on Saturday, and they have been remanded in judicial custody. Further investigations are ongoing.
