BENGALURU: A first-track court for Pocso cases recently sentenced a 44-year-old man from Rajajinagar in Bengaluru to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing his minor daughter.
“Father is the first hero of his daughter. Admittedly, in the present case, the accused is the father of the victim and it is most unfortunate to see the manner in which the accused indulged in committing sexual abuse of his own daughter, that too for a long time, threatening her with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to the mother,” judge KN Roopa observed while holding the accused guilty of sexually abusing his seven-year-old daughter.

Public prosecutor P Krishnaveni said the court also slapped a penalty of Rs 2.5 lakh on the convict.
Based on the mother’s complaint, the man was arrested and sent to judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison. He was later released on bail. When the judgment was pronounced, he was present in the court and was immediately shifted to prison again.
