A 42-year-old headmistress of a government high school at Murugamalle in Chikkaballapur district in Karnataka was suspended over the charge of behaving inappropriately with a student during a recent school excursion.
Photographs of the headmistress kissing a boy and cozying up to him went viral on social media on Wednesday, following which the boy’s parents went to the school and took her to task.
The deputy director of public instruction (DDPI) of Chikkaballapur said the block education officer (BEO) of Chintamani, Umadevi, visited the school on Wednesday afternoon to ascertain facts and noticed that the headmistress had deleted some of those pictures and videos, which were taken during the excursion.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, he said the BEO submitted a report on the incident, based on which the headmistress was placed under suspension. Umadevi said students and staff of the school went on an educational tour to Horanadu, Dharmasthala, Yana, and other places from December 22 to 25 and the incident took place during this tour.
The photos which went viral were taken by another student; barring the two students and the headmistress, no other employee or student is aware about the incident, Umadevi said.
