The ROG Strix Scar 16 can be labelled as a “beast” of a gaming machine that effortlessly tackles any task without a stutter. There are multiple modes, such as Silent and Turbo that depend upon the usage.
While there are cooling mechanisms in place, Asus still has to find a solid solution for heating. No, the laptop doesn’t stutter due to heat but it does emit some amount of heat that sometimes reaches uncomfortable levels. The areas around the keys, especially just above the keyboard, tend to get warm nudges in your brain.
During about 10 days with the laptop, we went ahead to test two games from the Microsoft Game Pass Ultimate that came free with the laptop. The demanding Starfield offers an expansive world with sharp graphics and a multitude of elements that add to the authenticity of the scene.

Starfield proved to be a breeze for the laptop, as it effortlessly maintained an average of 100fps at the display’s QHD resolution. The game automatically went for ‘extreme’ settings and its performance was consistent all along — suggesting its remarkable gaming capabilities at higher graphic settings. The fans quickly kicked in churning out large amounts of heat and were a bit noisy.

While playing the Forza Horizon 5, the laptop showcased its ability to handle demanding gaming environments with ease while maintaining exceptional visual fidelity. Both the games ran with ease at the highest graphics.

The Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 (2024) battery

Gaming laptops typically don’t excel in battery life, and the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 (2024) is no exception. The laptop sustained a runtime of 2 hours (at best) while it was idol downloading games with minimum display brightness. However, this limited battery performance shouldn’t pose a significant concern for most users, as the expectation is to have the laptop connected to power for extended gaming sessions.

Verdict

The Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 (2024) is a powerful juggernaut in the realm of gaming laptops and you have to shell out nearly Rs 3 lakh to even get the base variant. Moreover, its hefty build — just like any other gaming laptop in the segment — renders it less than ideal for portability. However, investing in this machine grants access to powerful CPU and GPU technology that will ensure relevance for years to come.
This gaming laptop is for those who are looking to upgrade their machine with the latest generation of hardware to stay relevant in the quickly changing technology landscape.
