India’s first tablet with BharatGPT announced: Specifications and more |

Epic Foundation, a non-profit organisation, has launched the first indigenously manufactured education tablet — Milkway. The tablet has been designed by VVDN Technologies in collaboration with MediaTek and CoRover.ai.
The tablet’s key highlights are claimed to be easy repairability, upgradability and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-integration.
Epic Foundation has signed an MoU for over 12,000 units with companies including IRIS Global and Vedavaag Systems Ltd.The company’s target is to manufacture up to three lakh tablets for state governments.
Milkway tablet: Features
The tablet comes with BharatGPT virtual assistant to help students. It also includes options for video and chatbots and features a speech translation app byh CoRover.ai.
The BaratGPT integration as virtual assistant is aimed at promoting digital learning and languar translation between different Indian languages to make things easier for users. The main objective is to increase schools’ access to affordable devices with longer lifespans while driving demand for homegrown electronics that empower society.
In terms of hardware specifications, the Milkway tab features an 8-inch 1280×800 IPS display and is powered by MT8766A chipset. The tab comes in two configurations — 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage.
The tab features an 8MP camera at the back and a 5MP camera at the front and is backed by a 5100mAh battery.
Also, it runs Android 13 out of the box and supports 4G LTE connectivity along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
