Samsung may launch a triple foldable smartphone in 2024: What to expect |

[ad_1]

Samsung has been a major player in the global foldable smartphone market. To have a lead over its rivals, the company is now expected to launch a foldable smartphone that can fold in three parts. A tipster named Revengus took to social media platform X (earlier Twitter) to reveal that Samsung is rumoured to launch the triple-fold smartphone in 2024.
The post also noted that Huawei may launch a triple-fold smartphone in the second quarter of this year. Meanwhile, the South Korean tech giant may want to launch its triple-fold device before the Chinese smartphone maker, or else it will lose “the title of ‘world’s first’.”

In November, display industry analyst Ross Young shared a post on X claiming Huawei was working on a tri-foldable phone which was expected to launch in late 2023. However, that didn’t happen and the launch has been pushed back to this year. The latest report claims Samsung may beat Huawei and launch before Q2 2024. This means the company has a little more than a month to launch its triple fold phone or it’ll miss the rumoured deadline.

Samsung triple-foldable phone: What to expect

Samsung has experimented with the technology before. During CES 2022, the company demonstrated multiple triple-fold concept devices. The most notable being the Flex S, which is a multi-hinged smartphone that can fold in and out in the shape of the letter “S”.

Huawei is also planning to adopt a similar configuration for its triple-fold smartphone. A recent report by GizmoChina shows that Huawei’s phone may also open and close in a similar “S” shape.

Rumours suggest that when fully unfolded, the triple-fold smartphone will offer a screen size which may be bigger than the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6.
An earlier patent (spotted by Tom’s Guide) revealed that this phone will include sensors in the hinges and may be able to sense what state the screen is in. The patent suggests that content will only appear on screens that are in active use. Meanwhile, features like Flex Mode may take advantage of that additional display.
Samsung usually launches its new Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models in August. The report notes that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to arrive in about six months.
However, the report didn’t mention when this Samsung triple-folding phone will arrive. The company may tease the device during a Galaxy Unpacked this year while Samsung makes final adjustments before launch.
