WhatsApp is rolling out disable reactions in channels: All details

In June of this year, WhatsApp rolled out its Instagram-like Channel features in India. These channels operate as a platform for one-way communication, allowing administrators to share text messages, photos, videos, stickers, and polls. The company is currently developing a searchable directory to assist users in discovering channels that match their interests. This directory enables users to explore channels related to their hobbies, favourite sports teams, updates from local authorities, and a wide range of other topics.
Now a new online report suggests that the Meta-owned app is rolling out a feature to disable reactions in channels.
As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is introducing a feature to enable the disabling of reactions in channels for iOS beta testers.
It’s important to highlight that reactions are automatically enabled for all channels, but with the latest updates, channel owners now have the ability to deactivate reactions as they see fit. Disabling reactions in channels means that followers won’t be able to express their reactions to updates, promoting a more streamlined communication experience for both channel owners and followers. This feature empowers channel owners to maintain the focus on shared content without potential distractions or clutter caused by reactions, ensuring that the content remains the central point of discussion.
“Channel owners may consider disabling reactions to mitigate the risk of misinterpretation as a proactive approach, ensuring that the conveyed messages receive the full attention they deserve,” mentions the report.
