Why does the size matter? Yachts cost money to buy and even more to operate. The 300ft yacht costs more in crew costs, maintenance, insurance, fuel. It cost significantly more to build and employed far more people and vendors in the construction. It’s actually one of the few instances where trickle down has some merit, because it isn’t making the owner money (it’s a depreciating asset with running costs) and it is benefiting the workers to the maximum possible. It’s not generating a profit for them to share in. How he got the excess cash to buy one is one thing (although it’s a shitty argument in general), but the “big boy toys” don’t really work for the argument.
