Scientists monitoring the La Soufriere volcano on St Vincent witnessed large plumes of smoke and ash billowing upwards in what they described as “another explosive episode” on April 13, the 42nd anniversary of the volcano’s 1979 eruption. The National Emergency Management Organisation of St Vincent and the Grenadines said the April 13 explosion was “not as energetic” as recent activity, but warned that more eruptions were possible in the coming days.
