One person was hurt after a truck driver crashed into a Toronto high school Monday morning, causing “significant damage to the building,” police say.

The collision happened at George Harvey Collegiate Institute on Keele Street, south of Eglinton Avenue West, at about 8:50 a.m.

The vehicle collided into the building’s main office, resulting in a partial evacuation of the main office and classroom immediately above the crash site, according to TDSB spokesperson Ryan Bird.

Students and faculty were relocated for the day to allow time for the structure in that location to be assessed.

Smoke could be seen coming from the vehicle, police said.

One of the occupants in the vehicle was treated for injuries on the scene. It’s not clear if the driver has a connection to the school and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

An engineer will be needed to access structural integrity, police said.
